Pricing Guide relating to Immigration Fees

We have provided below a pricing guide for types of immigration work our firm undertakes.

Our hourly rates: between £200.00 + VAT to £275.00 + VAT depending on the nature and complexity of the matter and the experience of the fee earner.  The suggested fixed fees may have to be revised subject to our mutual agreement depending on the complexity of the matter.  On average costs are between £875.00 + VAT and £10000.00 + VAT. All figures exclude VAT unless specifically stated).

We shall take detailed instructions from you, check all the papers/documents and assist you in the preparation and submission of your application as well as to advise you about the Immigration law, rules and policy and identifying the evidence which may be relevant in the cases. We will assist you to make written submissions/representations in support of the application.

The exact number of hours it will take depends on the circumstances in your case. Such as:

  • The amount of supporting documents we need to prepare or that we need to consider

  • Which language(s) you speak

  • Whether you are applying with other dependents

  • Depending on the nature of the application and or the maintenance requirements under Appendix FM

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as Home Office or NHS fees and Interpreters fees where applicable.

(On average, this type of work can be between 5 - 35 hours to complete).

How long will my application take?

On average these types of matters can take up to 3 to 12 months. However, this timescale does not take into account any third party complications and non-straightforward issues arising or delays by the Immigration Officer or UKVI formerly UKBA.

Cases if they fall outside of the deadline timescales may take considerably longer as the UKVI will concentrate on cases within that period as opposed to ones that have gone over the time period.  In these cases it is not unknown for cases to take considerably longer.  This is nothing to worry about and if you are at any time concerned by any delays please discuss the same with us.

Harbans Singh and Co legal fees range from Legal services provided in the sector of immigration law as outlined below (Subject to and dependant upon the complexity of the matter).  The prices quoted below exclude any VAT which may be applicable and any disbursements which may include courts fees, travelling and other expenses including UK Border Agency fees and NHS Surcharge.

Pricing guide relating to Probate when applying for the grant of probate, collecting and distributing the assets

Probate Fees

We anticipate this will take between 10 and 45 hours work at £205.00 per hour. Total costs estimated at £1845.00 - £9225.00 (+VAT).

The exact cost will depend on the individual circumstances of the matter. For example, if there is one beneficiary and no property, costs will be at the lower end of the range. If there are multiple beneficiaries, a property and multiple bank accounts, costs will be at the higher end.

We will handle the full process for you. This quote is for estates where:

  • There is a valid will

  • There is no more than one property

  • There are no more than 4 bank or building society accounts

  • There are no other intangible assets

  • There are 1 - 4 beneficiaries

  • There are no disputes between beneficiaries on division of assets. If disputes arise this is likely to lead to an increase in costs

  • There is no inheritance tax payable and the executors do not need to submit a full account to HMRC

  • There are no claims made against the estate

Disbursements

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

Disbursements are not included in our fee and the following below are likely anticipated disbursements:

  • Probate application fee of £155.50

  • £5.00 + £2.00 per Exhibit Swearing of the oath (per executor)

  • Bankruptcy-only Land Charges Department searches (£2.00 per beneficiary)

  • £200.00 - £350.00 to post in The London Gazette – Protects against unexpected claims from unknown creditors.

  • £150.00 – £200.00 Post in a Local Newspaper – This also helps to protect against unexpected claims.

Potential additional costs

  • If there is no will or the estate consists of any share holdings (stocks and bonds) there is likely to be additional costs that could range significantly depending on the estate and how it is to be dealt with. We can give you a more accurate quote once we have more information.

  • If any additional copies of the grant are required, they will cost £2.00 (normally one sealed copy is required for each asset).

  • Dealing with the sale or transfer of any property in the estate is not included.

Timescales

On average, estates that fall within this range are dealt with within 6 - 12 months. Typically, obtaining the grant of probate takes 2 – 4 months. Collecting assets then follows, which can take between 2 - 4 months. Once this has been done, we can distribute the assets, which normally takes 3 - 4 weeks.

We can help you through this difficult process by obtaining the Grant of Probate on your behalf. We will also undertake the collecting and distributing of assets.

Fixed Fee

We can in certain uncontested probate matters offer a fixed fee depending on the nature of the assets subject to the complexity of the matter.

TOTAL: Our fixed fees range from £950.00 to £1,500 (plus. VAT).

This includes: obtaining the grant, collecting assets and distributing them.

Disbursements are costs related to your matter that are payable to third parties, such as court fees. We handle the payment of the disbursements on your behalf to ensure a smoother process.

As part of our fixed fee we will:

  • Provide you with a dedicated and experienced probate solicitor to work on your matter

  • Identify the legally appointed executors or administrators and beneficiaries

  • Accurately identify the type of Probate application you will require

  • Obtain the relevant documents required to make the application

  • Complete the Probate Application and the relevant HMRC forms

  • Draft a legal oath for you to swear

  • Make the application to the Probate Court on your behalf

  • Obtain the Probate and securely send two copies to you

  • Collect and distribute all assets in the estate

On average, estates that fall within this range are dealt with within 3 - 8 months. Typically, obtaining the grant of probate takes 4 - 8 weeks. Collecting assets then follows, which can take between 4 - 12 weeks. Once this has been done, we can distribute the assets, which normally takes 1 - 10 weeks.

Timescales

How long it will take from your offer being accepted until you can move in to your house will depend on a number of factors. The average process takes between 8-12 weeks. It can be quicker or slower, depending on the parties in the chain. For example, if you are a first time buyer or if you are buying a leasehold property that requires an extension of the lease, this can take longer. In such situation additional charges may apply.

Our fee assumes that:

  1. this is a standard transaction and that no unforeseen matters arise including for example (but not limited to) a defect in title which requires remedying prior to completion or the preparation of additional documents ancillary to the main transaction

  2. this is the assignment of an existing lease and is not the grant of a new lease

  3. the transaction is concluded in a timely manner and no unforeseen complication arise

  4. all parties to the transaction are co-operative and there is no unreasonable delay from third parties providing documentation

  5. no indemnity policies are required. Additional disbursements may apply if indemnity policies are required.

Key Stages:

  • Initial instructions: we gather information about your requirements to help us plan. We must also comply with all legal formalities and you will be asked to provide identification.

  • Legal process: this involves a thorough inspection of the legal documents, liaison with the other person’s conveyancer and any mortgage lender. If buying a property, we will prepare a detailed report containing all the information you need to proceed with your purchase.

  • Exchange of contracts: the completion date is agreed and everybody is legally required to proceed. Buyers are usually required to pay a deposit of 10% of the purchase price but this can be less by agreement.

  • Completion: this is when the property changes hands. Buyers are required to pay all remaining sum at his time.
